Released to Heaven......................September 14, 2005

It was quite a journey to finally get our wiggle worm. After 5 long years, we were blessed with an angel. Even though we had an extremely difficult pregnancy, we knew our dreams were about to come true. On 5/5/05 at 5:50pm our son was born with the song "Wild Thing" playing in the operating room. He was immediately taken to the NICU for a collapsed lung, where he stayed for almost 2 1/2 weeks. Finally, about a week after he was born, we got to hold him. What a magical time that was! Walker was a strong boy, constantly pulling out all his tubes and ventilators. The night we got the call saying we could hold our son, was because he pulled his ventilator out again and was breathing fine.

The first few weeks home were rough, being new parents and all. Walker was ALWAYS hungry and liked to only sleep a few hours at a time. However, we soon got into a groove. Periodically he would get a cold and get cranky, once even being hospitalized for 6 days for a high fever. He always pulled through. He grew so, so fast! At 4 months he was already 27in. long and 17 pounds. He had reddish blond hair and the most beautiful green emerald eyes!

Walker spent his days with his nanny and his mornings, nights and weekends with us. We love him so much! His dad is quite tall and Walker just wasn't satisfied until his dad put him on his shoulder so he could be tall too! Walker liked to chew on his froggie blanket and make all sorts of sounds. He was a smart little guy, almost able to say "OSU", except he couldn't get the S! He knew what 1,2,3,4 was although he couldn't say them. He was a bright, wonderful boy who wore both his mom and dad's heart on his sleeve.

I got "the call" 9/14/05 at 10:36am from nanny. Walker's breathing monitor had gone off, paramedics were at the scene and he wasn't breathing. I begged her to push her way thru to my angel and put the phone up to him. At that time I told him I love you honey and you need to breathe for mommy. Then all I heard was commotion. We met the ambulance at the hospital where they continued to work on our angel. We were in "the room" when the doctor came in and said, we've done all we can. Walker is gone. Walker died from sleep apnea, a complication of his being born prematurely. I went and saw my angel then, laying gently on the table, peaceful, beautiful, sleeping. I held him and cried. My angel was picked from God's garden and no longer here. The days and weeks following were a blur. My husband and I miss our wiggle worm terribly. Not one minute goes by that we don't long for him. The following pages are in memory of our son, Walker Scott Griffith. Angel to Mom and Dad, Karen and Scott Griffith. Please feel free to sign Walker's guest book and contact us. WE have found tremendous support and can only hope one day we can be there for someone else in need. Until then, our children our in God's arms, cozy, warm, and happy.

Good night Pumpkin, Sweet dreams, Mommy and Daddy love you!
